Tesla to have a Cybertruck delivery event in the third quarter of 2023

Tesla's long-awaited Cybertruck should start making its way to customers in the third quarter of 2023.

This is according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who spoke about the car during a Tesla investors call on Wednesday. According to Musk, Tesla will "probably" have a Cybertruck "delivery event" in Q3 this year.

Originally announced in November 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck was supposed to go into production in 2021, but has been delayed several times since then.

There's still a caveat, though; while Cybertruck production is starting this summer, volume production won't begin until 2024, so only the select few will likely get their flashy new stainless steel truck.

"As with all new products, it will follow an S curve; production starts out slow and then accelerates," said Musk.

Musk didn't share any new details about the Cybertruck during the call.

"It's an incredible product, a hall of famer, I think, and a product like this only comes along once in a long while. You will not be disappointed at all, it's amazing," said Musk.

Musk said that part of the reason why Cybertruck is late is that it's a "radical product" that's "not made in the way other cars are made." We've already seen one issue stemming from Cybertruck's extravagant design, where Tesla has had problems designing a wiper that can cover the car's enormous windshield.
