Apple’s New MacBook Air Finally Gives Us Everything We Want

Today at Apple’s iPad event, the company finally announced a new MacBook Air, the first major refresh to the line since March 2015.

The biggest feature is its Retina display with 48% more color. Before today, the MacBook Air was the only device that Apple sold that didn’t have a Retina display, so this feature has been a long time coming.

The laptop mostly keeps the same overall design and style, but taking up 17% less space and 10% thinner than the previous Air. Furthermore, it weighs just 2.7 pounds, which is a 1/4-pound lighter than the previous MacBook Air.

There are some significant changes, though, to modernize it and bring it to par with other MacBooks. It has a thinner bezel, Touch ID, updated 3rd-generation backlit keyboard, updated Force Touch trackpad, Apple’s T2 security chip, and better speakers. It also comes with two Thunderbolt 3 ports and a headphone jack.

It’s also packed with Intel’s latest 8th-generation i5 dual-core processor, and you can get it with up to 16GB of memory and up to 1.5TB of storage space.

As for battery life, Apple didn’t get too specific, but they mentioned that you’ll be able to get 13 hours of iTunes movie playback, which isn’t too shabby.
